In
2019, after having been nominated by President Trump and confirmed by the
U.S. Senate, Alan D Albright was sworn in as a District Court Judge
for the Western District of Texas. Since then, Judge Albright has quickly
become one of the busiest judges for patent cases in the United States. A
Texan, who was a patent litigator in private practice representing U.S. and
international companies for decades before he took the bench, Judge
Albright will share his experiences and expectations for cases before him
in Hsinchu on 10/1 and in Taipei on 10/2.

Albright法官：2019 年，由川普總統提名並經美國參議院確認後，Alan D Albright宣誓就任德克薩斯州西區聯邦地方法院法官。自此之後，Albright法官迅速成為美國專利案件中最繁忙的法官之一。身為一位德州人，並在擔任法官前，曾數十年於律師事務所代表美國和國際企業進行專利訴訟，Albright法官將在10月1日於新竹，和10月2日於台北，分享他的案件經驗 以及他對他所審理之案件的期望。
For the second half of the seminar, Judge Albright will be
joined by a prestigious group of speakers for a round table discussion on
intellectual property and litigation topics of interest to Taiwanese
companies. The speakers include:

Matt Bernstein, the Managing Partner of Perkins Coie
LLP’s San Diego office and the Co-Managing Partner of the
Taipei office (Perkins Coie Foreign Legal Affairs Attorneys at Law) and
a seasoned patent litigator who has represented Taiwanese and U.S.
companies in hundreds of district court, ITC, and PTAB cases.

Harvey Chen, a Partner of Perkins Coie LLP’s Palo Alto office and a veteran patent attorney
experienced in prosecution before the USPTO and in post-grant
proceedings at the PTAB.

Michael Shen, the Chief Counsel for Patent
Litigation at TSMC.

Charlie Chang, the General Counsel of PixArt Imaging

Judge Alan Albright
will speak on his nomination by President Trump, confirmation by the U.S.
Senate, and his Court in the Western District of Texas. Judge Albright will
touch on how patent cases before him are handled, frequent issues before
him such as motions to transfer, Alice motions, Markman hearings, and
others. The Judge will also share some of his experiences litigating
patents cases in private practice and how those experiences have prepared
him for the bench.
